Saturday, I had the pleasure of being there for the "Ice Cream Smackdown" - a fun fundraiser of Atlantic City Police Officer Josh Vadell. Vadell was shot and injured while on duty several weeks ago.

The ice cream eating contest was held at AC Sweets and Treats at Atlantic City's Gardner's Basin. 14 contestants, including Atlantic City Police Officers, Firefighters, and local community members attempted to down their big bowl of ice cream the quickest.

In the end, firefighter Keith Coursey finished his ice cream, beating the other competitors and brain freeze to win the trophy.

Special judges for the event were Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian and Miss New Jersey Brenna Weick.

The event raised several thousand dollars for Officer Vadell and family. A GoFund me page continues to accept donations for the family. Over $120,000 has been donated so far.  It can be found here.
