EHT Cops Search Woods Near School Find No Gunman
A possible suspicious person in the woods near a local elementary school Monday afternoon turned out to be a non-threatening situation.
Egg Harbor Township Police say they responded to Dr. Joyanne D. Miller Elementary School on Alder Avenue after the report of a suspicious man near a wooded area near the school. Police say the report said the man may have been carrying a rifle.
Police say the report came from a 7-year-old, and there were no other witnesses.
As a precaution, police say they "established a perimeter around the area" and conducted a search. The search included EHT Police, EHT and Galloway SWAT personnel, with the assistance from a Galloway Township Police K-9 unit. Police say the search "did not locate any suspicious persons or vehicles in the immediate or surrounding areas. The report appears unsubstantiated at this time."
