EHT Police Issue Warning About Dog Beach For Holiday Weekend
If your dog loves the beach and the water, loves to fraternize with other dogs, Dog Beach can be heaven for you and he/she.
It can also end up being hell for you if you don't know what you're doing.
Wait. Before I get to that hell thing, there's this: It's very helpful that before taking your dog to the beach that he/she is fixed. If nothing else, it will give you a little peace of mind that you won't necessary have with your teenagers.
But, I digress.
Yes, Dog Beach, located between Ocean City and Longport, is on a strip of land, that for some weird map-making-reason belongs to Egg Harbor Township.
Egg Harbor Township Police have issued a warning to all that if you're taking your little Bailey, Max, Charlie, Molly or Daisy to dog beach OBEY THE NO PARKING SIGNS!
I remember last year, during the height of the pandemic, I was headed to Dog Beach with my little grand-dogs, and dog beach was out of control! Check that. Dog Beach parking was out of control! (Yes, those are my grand-dogs above!)
As we pulled up, Egg Harbor Township Police were in force, issuing parking tickets to those who already were parked illegally and making sure that no one else parked where they weren't supposed to be parked.
Police this week issued a warning, advising people of a $200 fine and a tow-away for any cars parked illegally in the dog beach area.
So, be aware. If the parking (the legal parking) is full, be prepared to move on.
Best case scenario, take your dog on July 7th and just tell him/her that it's Independence Day. To my knowledge, most dogs cannot read a modern day calendar.
