It was 12 hours on the loose in South Jersey for an escaped prisoner, but the lure of McDonald's french fries just may have been his undoing.

New Jersey State Police say Daniel Newman, 22, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, escaped police custody as he was being transported from Atlantic City. Police say Newman was arrested Saturday evening at the Golden Nugget for "crimes within the Atlantic City casino district."

Newman was able to flee, while in handcuffs, and made off into a wooded area.

He was later captured in the Festival Mall Shopping Area - across from the Hamilton Mall. Various social media reports say he was captured at the McDonald's.
