The family of Hailey McMullen, the 10-year-old girl thrown from a ride at the Deerfield Harvest Festival, is now being represented by counsel.

McMullen sustained severe injuries when she was ejected from the Xtreme carnival ride on October 14. She was airlifted to a local hospital where she died.

Milton Brown, an attorney now representing the McMullens, spoke to People.com, and said the family is 'exploring options' when it comes to any potential litigation, such as a lawsuit against Deerfield Township or Skelly's Amusements, the owner of Xtreme.

Rick Marchione, a spokesperson for Skelly's, tells People that the company has never experienced a tragedy like what happened over the weekend.

In a statement, Brown went on to say, “The parents of Hailey McMullen would like to thank you for the love, support and prayers given to them during this difficult time in their lives. Although the family greatly appreciates these thoughts and prayers, they ask that you honor their wishes for privacy during the grieving process.”

Grief counselors were present Tuesday at Deerfield Township Elementary School in Cumberland County to help Hailey's fifth grade classmates cope with her sudden death, 6abc.com reports.

The McMullens have also asked that anyone who may have witnessed the accident Saturday night call Milton Brown's office at 856-845-7898.
