Balance is important at any age, but as we get older, we lose muscle and become less steady on our feet. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, every hour, fall-related injuries like wrist and hip fractures, head traumas are just to name a few that send more than 180 older adults to the emergency room. One out of five falls causes a serious injury such as broken bones or head injury. Each year more than two million older adults are treated in emergency rooms for injuries related to falls.
Most falls are caused by a combination of risk factors. The more risk factors a person has, the greater their chances of falling.
