Galloway Police Officer Loses Home in Fire, Fundraiser Planned
A Galloway Township Police Officer and his family lost their Elm Avenue home in a fire Monday - and now, friends and co-workers have begun planning a fundraiser to help in replacement efforts.
According to Galloway Township Police, Firefighters were called out to the fire Monday morning, just after 10:30am. When fire crews arrived, there was already heavy fire conditions. Luckily no one was at home at the time, except for a family cat, which died. The home was declared a total loss.
According to police, the home belonged to Lt. Chris McGinty and his family.
A Beef and Beer fundraiser has already been organized for Thursday, October 11, at the Smithville Inn. Tickets are available in advance at $20 each by calling Chief Donna Higbee, Captain Rich Barber or Kathy Weber at 609-652-3705 extension 330.
