I'm not usually one to jump the gun when it comes to decorating for Christmas. If I'm being honest, I'll still most likely wait until Black Friday to decorate for 'the most wonderful time of the year.'

With that being said however, I'm not naive to the fact that people are looking for anything and everything they can do to ease their stress and improve their mental health. 2020 has been nothing short of a complete ball of chaos. People have been losing their jobs and loved ones left and right due to COVID-19. While I'm not one to decorate too early for the next holiday, who am I to judge people for getting a jump start on some holiday cheer? Goodness knows we could all use a little more than usual right about now.

The experts are saying that decorating early isn't too bad of an idea. In fact, according to Yahoo News, doctors have gone on record saying that decorating really can make you happy and give a nice little jolt to one's overall mental health. Psychologist Dr. Elena Touroni told the news source that planning festive activities (like decorating early) can actually help people cope with their new normal a lot easier than if they had nothing to look forward to.

Makes sense, right?

So, moral of the story is, before you start judging people for hanging Christmas lights outside or putting up their trees before we even know who our next president will be, maybe take into consideration that it might not be a bad idea if you did the same.
