Little Egg Harbor Man Severely Beaten with a Skateboard

A 25-year-old man is in stable but critical condition after he was reportedly beaten in the head with a skateboard numerous times Sunday, police said. 

According to the Asbury Park Press, Britton Cooper, 18, of Little Egg Harbor, was arrested by Little Egg Harbor police Sunday in connection with the beating. Cooper was charged with second-degree aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Police responded to a report of a man who had been assaulted in the Harbor Island Shopping Plaza on Radio Road and found the victim lying in the parking lot with a head injury, police said in a statement.

The victim was treated by Great Bay Regional Ambulance Service and then flown via medical helicopter to the Atlantic City Medical Center for more intensive treatment.

Cooper is being held the Ocean County jail.
