It is not uncommon in our daily lives to see everyone with their eyes glued to their cell phones, TV, or other electronic devices.  Let's face it, many of us have become addicted to our devices. It may be time to take a step back and really give ourselves a break from all forms of technology. Could you do it? Could you give it up for one day?

Beginning at sundown of March 6 to sundown March 7, let's all hit the off button for National Day of Unplugging. This is a day designed to have us break from our constant need to be looking at technology and to start looking around at the people that are right in front of us. It is a day to reconnect yourself with friends, family, and ourselves.

Invite people over to join you in unplugging for the day and truly enjoy each other's company. Catch up to see what is going on in everyone's lives in person, instead of just seeing it on social media. Get the kids involved too.  Have them unplug for the day and hang out with the family and get their head out of their cell phone. Take them outside and get some sunlight and physical activity and reconnect with one another.

Yes, National Unplugging Day is only one day out of the year, but we may find ourselves enjoying the benefits of unplugging. We can make this a regular thing to stay connected to the people that are in our lives. Maybe have your entire family unplug once a week for a fun day together, or at least ask them all to put their phones away during dinner. You will be shocked how much you can learn about someone just by taking your nose out of your phone and connecting with them in person.

Get the toolkit and pledge to join the National Day of Unplugging.
