Another rabies case in Atlantic County has been confirmed. The Press of Atlantic City reports that a raccoon has tested positive for the viral disease.The rabid raccoon was found on Walnut Avenue in EHT, according to the report. The animal was caught by Wildlife Aid after biting a dog at the homeowners residence. The dog was up to date with its rabies vaccine.

Make sure your pets are up to date with their shots especially for rabies. The next date for a free rabies vaccination courtesy of the Atlantic County Animal Shelter will be on Sunday, August 5th from 9 AM to 11 AM. You should also instruct children to always avoid stray or wild animals at all times.

The first reported case of rabies in Atlantic County came this past April, when a rabid raccoon was also captured in Northfield and was confirmed to have rabies.
