A sentimental American flag that was stolen over the 4th of July weekend in North Wildwood has been returned.

The Cocoran family wanted the flag returned "no questions asked", so when an unidentified woman returned the flag to a neighbor on Tuesday, no charges were pressed.

According to the Associated Press,

The flag was given to the family of 19-year-old Navy Seaman Patrick Corcoran during his funeral. Corcoran and 73 other sailors were killed in 1969 when the USS Frank E. Evans collided with an Australian aircraft carrier in the South China Sea. Corcoran's body was never found.
