Starbucks Introduces New ‘Mermaid’ Frappuccino

Move over Unicorn Frapp...The 'Mermaid Frappuccino' is swimming it's way into the trend just in time for the summer!

Starbucks is out with a new purple and green drink, mostly made with vanilla bean, blended blackberries, and matcha powder. And they're calling it the Mermaid Frappuccino.

Step aside #unicornfrappuccino, meet the #mermaidfrappuccino @baycitystarbucks sold out of the unicorn frappuccino on the first day, but we made the moment right by suggesting other partner created frappuccinos! The mermaid frappuccino is a Pokémon go frappuccino without raspberry syrup, drizzled with a toasted coconut matcha sauce! Now some of you Starbucks connoisseurs may think, "hmm, this oddly resembles the Dragon Frappuccino, which is a Green Tea Frappuccino with vanilla-bean powder and berry cup swirls (which I've heard is fabulous). However, let me prove you wrong: The Mermaid Frapp actually has a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino base (which to me sounds WAY better).

But what's weird to me is that apparently, you can't just ask for a Mermaid Frappucino...According to Cosmo, you have to ask for: "A Grande, Vanilla Bean Frappuccino with three scoops of blackberry inclusions." Then, ask for a drizzle made with eight pumps of white mocha, three pumps of toasted coconut, and three scoops of matcha powder.

Starbucks suggests asking for whipped cream topped with matcha powder if your barista doesn't want to make the drizzle, since it's pretty time consuming.

So although this fancy, new, instagram-loving drink definitely has some CONS; It definitely comes with a couple of PROS!

1. The beautiful starbucks logo actually looks like a mermaid, as if Triton's daughter herself were sitting against this colorful magic.
2. This already sounds 128763912031284x better than the Unicorn Frappuccino...
