Thousands Of Chickens Dead After Barn Fire in Salem County

Multiple reports were released this morning about an awful barn fire that devastated an egg farm in Salem County overnight.

A fire broke out Monday night (7/20) at the Red Bird egg farm in Pilesgrove. It took firefighters hours to finally put out the blaze as it had spread to three buildings, killing over 300,000 chickens as it burned.

With the scorching temperatures yesterday, the firefighters weren't  working in the best conditions. According to Philadelphia's CBS3, they were also dealing with a water shortage.

The Manning Fire Department chief said that this was the biggest blaze he had to battle in all his years as a firefighter.
