A man from Atlantic City has been charged with numerous offenses, including assault by auto and endangering the welfare of a child, after cops say he fled from a traffic stop and crashed into a tree.

Police in Galloway Township say they pulled-over 23-year-old Darius Spence near the intersection of Aloe Street and Vienna Avenue Tuesday morning. Spence fled the scene at a high rate of speed, lost control of his car, and crashed into a tree.

In addition to Spence, also inside the vehicle were 39-year-old Joclyn Scotland of Mays Landing and Spence’s juvenile daughter. All three were extricated from the car and treated for their injuries; both Spence and his daughter were said to have serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Spence was charged with assault by auto, endangering the welfare of a child, obstruction, causing injury while in violation of driving while suspended, resisting arrest, and numerous motor vehicle offenses. He was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
