Updates on New Retail Construction in EHT and Somers Point

If it appears that a lot of new retail construction is taking place in the Egg Harbor Township and Somers Point area, you are absolutely correct.

That can only be a good thing for 2021, right?

Let's start in Egg Harbor Township, on Ocean Heights Avenue, just west of English Creek Avenue. Despite everyone's fears (I'm kind of kidding there), it appears as a new Dollar General Store is being built.

This will be Dollar General's fourth location in EHT - the other stores being on English Creek Avenue, the Black Horse Pike (Cardiff Shopping Center) and on Zion Road. Numerous other area locations have also popped up over the last few years.

Meanwhile, on Fire Road in Egg Harbor Township, at the site of the former Genaurdi's, finishing touches are taking place on the new Lidl grocery store. We're expecting a grand opening announcement soon.

In Somers Point, a lot of activity on or near New Road (Route 9). In front of McNaughton's Garden Center, construction is underway on a new Taco Bell. This is just a few hundred feet away from the new Chipotle restaurant that opened last year.

In the ACME Shopping Center, Kmart is gone, but work continues on the new Target store. That store is scheduled to open later this year.

Over in the ShopRite plaza, Tony Beef is getting closer to opening. This is the second Tony Beef location, with the original in Galloway. Look for the Somers Point location to be opening soon, as Tony Beef has been hiring staff for the new location.
