I sneaked out of my office to give blood yesterday at the Red Cross Bloodmobile, and when I returned, I got the surprise of my life!

The new phone book is here!

The surprise for me was that they are still making phone books. Aren't they obsolete? Forgotten? Haven't they gone the way of the pinball machine?

I honestly cannot remember the last time I actually opened a phone book for anything other than to insert a leaf that needed straightening out for one of the kid's school projects.

I think we still have a phone book in our kitchen junk drawer - I think I remember moving it out of the way the last time I was looking for AAA batteries or birthday candles.

So, here the new phone book sits..... on my desk....unopened. It's not anywhere near as thick as it used to be. It appears a lot of businesses still have advertisements in here - although it seems like a big waste of money to me.

You see, I don't need a phone book anymore. I have Google. I can talk to my phone and find out anything I could possibly ever want. The kids don't have leaf projects anymore, either.....
