$100 Million Indoor Water Park Planned for Atlantic City
It looks like Atlantic City is getting a year-round, indoor water park, and ground will break on the project this summer.
The $100 million attraction is the brainchild of Showboat hotel owner Bart Blatstein. According to Press of Atlantic City, the developer recently applied for a state tax credit to help pay for the water park.
Building of the park will reportedly break ground this August.
While there are rides and other attractions to be found in the shore town, the water park will hopefully give vacating families something more to do in Atlantic City for more months out of the year since it will be entirely indoors.
Blatstein tells Press of AC, “Atlantic City does not have a family market. This will open up a whole new market that doesn't exist.”
So, where's the water park gonna go? Just near Showboat, according to Blatstein, on an existing parking lot between Showboat and Ocean Casino Resort.
Now, I'm no builder, but I've long said a water park has been what's missing in A.C. While there are casinos and concerts for the big kids, there isn't much for families to do together besides shop at the outlets. A water park would be able to host birthday parties and special events all year long, and that can only be a good thing.
There's no word yet on just how long the water park will take to build, but it's definitely given us something to look forward to in future Jersey shore summers.
