Residents and guests are "strongly encouraged" to wear masks in Cape May this weekend.

Not that masks shouldn't already be worn wherever mandated, but due to the holiday weekend, Cape May County officials want to drive home the point to mind your mask whenever you're out and about in the country over 4th of July.

They are anticipating the biggest crowds they've seen yet this summer due to the COVID-19 pandemic putting a pause on the start of the season, so they want to make sure the numbers in the county stay relatively low like they have been since the beginning of the pandemic. NJ.com reports that officials are particularly concerned about people's attitudes towards the mask mandates on the boardwalk. Since the boardwalk crams a lot of people into a compressed space, they want to make sure everybody is protected. The best way to ensure that is to strongly encourage all who visit to wear their masks during all activities.
