If you have had a pumpkin sitting outside your door since early October, you might think it is time to toss it...well think again. It is no trick to say pumpkins are a nutrient-rich treat.

You might think pumpkins are only good for carvinging into jack-o-lanterns, but they are so much more than that. Pumpkins are quite healthy as well. From the pulp to the seeds, pumpkins are packed with nutritional benefits such as immune-boosting vitamins and they are high in fiber and low in calories. While commonly viewed as a vegetable, a pumpkin is scientifically a fruit, as it contains seeds.     Pumpkins have a lot of beta-carotene, which means they are an excellent source of vitamin A. This vitamin is important because it supports the wellness of your eyes by helping your retinas absorb light and then process it properly. In addition, vitamin A also helps improve your general wellness by boosting your immune system.

    Pumpkins are loaded with fiber, a key component in weight loss since it helps to slow digestion. This, in turn, helps you feel full for longer after you get done eating. Bottom line, if you feel full, you won’t be as tempted to eat more calories to fill yourself.
